This plant will bring a tropical theme to any room!
Also known as Calathea lancifolia, this unique plant is native to Brazilian rainforests and it gets its common name from its reptile skin pattern. Its foliage carries different shades of green, and darker spots that resemble small leaves.
This species can be very easy to care for, as long as proper lighting and watering are provided.
Lighting: Bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight will cause the vibrant spotted markings to fade away.
Watering: Over the summer, frequent small watering is best to keep the soil moist but not soggy. During the winter season, allow the top layer of soil to dry out before watering again.
Best spot: Indoors. Avoid direct sunlight. Calatheas do well in shady areas, but will thrive in bright spots.
Pet Friendly? Yes!
Child Friendly? Unlike the actual rattlesnake, the plant is not toxic to pets or humans.
