Commonly called by several names: snake plant, Saint George's sword, mother-in-law's tongue and Sansevieria. Zeylanica's sword-like leaves are dark green with lighter green waves.
It's a great plant for those who are just starting the "plant life", do not have a lot of free time or whose homes are not bright enough to most other plants. It tolerates different light conditions, from low to bright to some direct sunlight.
In addition to that, it tolerates drought, so it will do well even if you forget to water it for some time. It actually prefers that the soil mostly dries out in between waterings.
Lighting: Bright, direct to indirect sunlight. Adapts well to low light spots.
Watering: Allow soil to dry out between waterings. It is drought tolerant but will not be happy in soggy soil.
Best spot: Indoors, bright or shady locations. Can be grown outdoors during the summer.
